I'm a Digital Media Specialist at The University of Melbourne and Science Gallery Melbourne. I have a passion for prototyping, engineering, deploying and evaluating technology in public space. Together with citizens, I transform neighborhoods into dynamic kitchens for cooking up social and situated technologies that solve contextual challenges and highlight local qualities.
This talk, in conjunction with a study day on electronic screens, has highlighted various relevant academic studies with regards to government communication by way of various forms of display technologies, ranging from indoor electronic screens to architecturally integrated media facades. This included topics such as visibility and effectiveness, content and expectations from the audience, and the sustainable integration in the urban environment.
The study day was organized as part of research on the social qualities of different display technologies in public space, ranging from information pillars with concrete messages to building-sized media screens with abstract information (in short: media architecture).
